What is a RACI Chart?

A RACI chart is a tool used in project management to clearly define roles and responsibilities for team members and stakeholders in completing tasks or deliverables. RACI is an acronym that stands for:

  1. Responsible: The person or people who are responsible for completing the task or deliverable. They are the ones who do the work.

  2. Accountable: The person who is ultimately answerable for the task or decision. Only one person should be accountable for each task.

  3. Consulted: People who provide input, advice, or expertise for the task. They are typically subject matter experts who are consulted before decisions are made.

  4. Informed: People who need to be kept in the loop about progress or decisions. They are updated on the outcomes but are not directly involved in the task.

A RACI chart helps to clarify roles, reduce ambiguity, and ensure that everyone understands their part in the project.
